Looking back over the years

It all began in Lisa King’s kitchen in 2015. Back then, a typical day included:

- A 4am start.

- Peeling and grating 25kgs of carrots with her Kenwood food processor.

- Cooking and peeling 600 eggs!

- Rearranging the lounge to accommodate 20 trestle tables and 25 volunteers.

- Driving and delivering lunches to the schools every morning with Michael Meredith and being greeted with smiling faces (making the egg peeling issue all worthwhile).

Seven years on and the location and times have certainly changed.  We now operate from two Auckland kitchens and another in Central Wellington.

Lisa King’s initial goal was to feed 50 kids a day. Now in June 2022, we have made and delivered close to 1.8 million lunches through our Buy One Give One model, and over 14,500 kids every school day through the Ka Ora, Ka Ako healthy school lunches programme.

Thank you to everyone who has been on this wild ride so far – our customers, volunteers, schools and an exceptional team of passionate people who make it happen every day.
